I had been scouting the Albion Basin near the Alta Ski Resort in Utah in July 1999 when I found this scene. I liked it so much I rented a Mamiya 645 medium format camera and went here 4 straight mornings to capture the sun as it first hit the peaks. The fourth morning turned out to give me right combination of sun and clouds. A 2 stop, soft step graduated filter allowed me to better match the light on the mountain with the flowers in the shadows. |
