Ruby Mountains in Nevada - October 1, 2 and 3 (Friday - Sunday)

Ruby Mountains in Nevada - October 1, 2 and 3 (Friday - Sunday)

Southeast of Elko (100 miles west of Wendover) are the Ruby Mountains. With several peaks reaching over 11,000 feet, the area has been referred to as "Nevada's Yosemite" and the "Nevada's Alps". Outside the town of Lamoille a road climbs for 12 miles into the Humboldt National Forest. There are many aspen groves and they should be displaying their best color during our stay.

On the east side of the Ruby Mountains is the Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge. There should be many migrating birds in early October. This is a possible trip but would involve a good drive to reach it.

Elko is the closest town with a lot of lodging. For more info contact Bill Crnkovich at 253-4332.
